DJ Soda, who previously confessed to suffering from disastrous bleaching damage, has shared her current situation once again. In particular, on June 29th, the female star confessed to suffering from depression and social phobia on SNS, to the point she decided to leave Korea.
She stated, “I’ve come to Germany because I wanted to take a break due to the depression I’ve been feeling. As a woman, my self-esteem has dropped a lot, and I’ve even developed social anxiety. However, thanks to the many people who have worried about me as if it were their own matter and sent support from all over the world, I’m trying to gather the strength to keep going.”
“I’m also really grateful for all the unexpected sponsorship offers, including hair products, care products, wigs, and hair transplants. I’ll definitely reply to you all when I return to Korea, so don’t worry too much. Although I wasn’t able to greet each and every one of you in person, I sincerely thank you all. I will work harder to become a person who can share the support and warmth I’ve received,” DJ Soda also wrote, adding, “Once again, I sincerely thank you.”
The Crippling Bleaching Disaster
Meanwhile, previously on June 26, hairstylist Kiu Saem uploaded a video titled “Yes, it’s that incident DJ Soda posted about on SNS…” to his YouTube channel, revealing the extent of the damage and the efforts to salvage her hair. The clip followed DJ Soda‘s viral post about her bleached hair disaster, which shocked fans across social media.
“When she first sent me pictures, I didn’t think there was any way to fix it,” said Kiu. “Her hair broke off even more after we filmed. Now we’re even considering a partial wig.” DJ Soda recounted the nightmare experience with visible distress. “I’ve never had this much breakage in my life,” she said. “I was bored of my natural brown and bleached my entire head. I’ve been blonde for 10 years and never had this happen. My hair is usually thick and healthy.”
The damage reportedly started during the first bleaching session. “Usually, it takes three sessions to turn my hair orange, but this time it went straight to lemon yellow,” Soda explained. “It doesn’t look obvious from the front, but the back is breaking more and more.”
She continued, “I’ve cried almost every day for two weeks. I’m scared people will notice when they see the back of my head.” The emotional toll was evident, and Soda agreed to undergo a treatment plan with Kiu.
Kiu added that Soda’s hair condition was among the most difficult he’d encountered. “From the side, it almost looks like a buzz cut,” he said. “Treatments won’t help much with bleached hair—we need to coat it to prevent further breakage.”
The team opted for a strategic approach: different root bleaching methods depending on the scalp area, and temporary hairpieces to restore a natural look. “I’ll cut them to match your head shape,” said Kiu, attaching extensions in a matching shade.
Soda also addressed misconceptions about her public image. “People assume I’m a party animal, but I can’t drink at all,” she clarified. “After DJing, I go straight back to my hotel because of crowd control issues.” While still recovering from the trauma, DJ Soda concluded with a somber reflection: “I never imagined something like this would happen in my life.”
Fans have since flooded her social media with supportive messages, praising her honesty and strength in dealing with such a personal and public ordeal.
